2009 was a year that marks a pivotal moment for Jess and I.

That was when CrossFit Rife (formerly GSS CrossFit) was born.

It feels similar raising children.

The vast majority of the the time you question if you are doing it right.

You never know if what are doing is going to work, you just trust that one day when they grow up you’ll be proud of them.

Much of it is spent in doubt.

Some years are great, others are awful and it would be a coin toss to pick which year will be which.

I can’t even count the number of evolutions we’ve undergone in that timeframe.

I can’t count the number of mistakes we’ve made

I can’t count the number of times we’ve missed the mark

I can’t count the number of people we’ve had the opportunity to work with.

I can’t count the number of sleepless nights

I can’t count the amount of money we’ve lost

I can’t count the number of laughs we’ve had

I can’t count the number of tears we’ve shed

I can’t count the number of workouts I’ve written

I can’t count the number of emails sent and received

I can’t count the number of curse words I’ve used when referring to the business

I can’t count the number to times I’ve overstretched myself

I can’t count the number of days I’ve opened and closed the gym wondering if everything would work out

I definitely can’t count the number of hours worked trying to just simply get better by 1%

But…

There are some things I CAN count.

I can count the number of years we’ve made it work. It’s 10

I can count the number of years we made improvements to ourselves and the gym. It’s 10

I can count the number of years people like Nelly and Laura have trusted us and shown up day in and day out.  It’s 10

I can count the number of times I’ve aimed for the sun and landed on the moon. It’s 10

I can count the number of times I’ve reflected back on the year and realized how fortunate I am to work with all of you.  It’s 10

I can count the number of years I’ve had the responsibility to help other coaches chase their dream to help others. It’s 10

And I can count the number of years until I write the email talking about what 20 years was like.

It’s 10

Thank you to all of you regardless of what your number is.

Typing this makes me emotional because even if your number is just one, in that one minute, one day, one class, one month or one year you’ve all impacted our lives, our gym and our members in ways you can’t imagine.

So here’s to the last 10,

And the next 10.

Thank you!
