Welcome to Rife Nutrition
Hello! Welcome to my little slice of the interwebs. I’m Jessica, a girl from Ohio who played volleyball and softball in college and then joined the military to serve my country in the US Navy. I’m married to my best friend and we have an amazingly independent daughter who came into this world when she wanted to. (At least that’s what I tell myself.)
We started CrossFit in 2008. I would say nutrition started becoming a serious passion shortly after we opened our gym in 2011. I love coaching CrossFit but love nutrition coaching even more. I love learning about nutrition and sharing that knowledge with others. I believe we all deserve to understand how the food we eat impacts our digestion, mood and overall health. I am a certified Precision Nutrition Level 1 coach and AFPA Nutrition and Wellness Consultant.
CrossFit explains nutrition beautifully, “Our recommendation to ‘eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar’ is adequate to the task of preventing the scourges of diet-induced disease, but more accurate and precise prescription is necessary to optimize physical performance.
Finely tuned, a good diet will increase energy, sense of well being and acumen, while simultaneously flensing fat and packing on muscle. When properly composed the right diet can nudge every important quantifiable marker for health in the right direction.”It’s even the base of the CrossFit pyramid. We don’t expect you to jump right into a CrossFit workout without walking you through the basics and helping you understand some of the movements. We touch on nutrition but sometimes nutrition can be seen in the same light as politics and religion. If you’re ready to learn about nutrition, I’m here for you! I’m am by far an expert in the field and not a Registered Dietitian but I feel comfortable enough having gone through two certifications and shortly a third to help guide you in the right direction to help figure out what works for you.
I hope to share what I’ve been learning and my experiences with nutrition in this blog. Stay tuned for some information and healthy recipes. I hope you love this blog and find some wellness tips.
